The cuts are concentrated in the central region of Cochabamba, which on this day has four points of blockade and there is a fifth at the border of that region with eastern Santa Cruz, the economic engine of the country.
One of the places with the largest number of demonstrators is the town of Parotani, where on the eve the Bolivian police prevented a group from closing the way.
However, this morning the demonstrators managed to install the blockade with the support of miners who pushed back the police with dynamite detonations.
There is a long line of stationary vehicles, between buses and trucks of high tonnage, which cannot pass through this road, one of the main connecting points of eastern and western Bolivia.
On the government side, the company of Bolivian Fiscal Oil Fields (YPFB) denounced that 300 tankers with fuel to supply different cities are stopped on the roads because of the blockages.
YPFB President Armin Dorgathen said at a press conference that “there is a risk of accidents” when having tanker trucks exposed to “high temperatures” Road transport, coupled with fuel supply problems in the various regions of Bolivia.
Dorgathen called on the demonstrators “to lift the blockades” or to “let the tanks go through” as he saw this as a danger for the very people who are still in the streets.
